Abide: Divine Intimacy in the Ordinary and the Everyday 2026

Abide: Divine Intimacy in the Ordinary and the Everyday

Contemporary life is filled with noise and distractions. The business of daily life, the demands of family and career, and the continual presence of technology can keep our minds, bodies, and souls in a near-constant frenzy. And yet, we can simultaneously feel bored and fatigued by the mundane and repetitive nature of the everyday. Often, what we want most is to escape. Amidst it all, our spirits are crying out for the time and space to deepen our relationship with our Heavenly Father; they ache for the ability to foster an ever-growing connection and intimacy with God.

But what if it is amid the frenzy that God is ever-present to walk and talk with us? What if he is beckoning us into the joy of continuously being with him in the ordinary and the everyday?

Drawing on the image of abiding from the Gospel of John and The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence, this retreat will provide a biblical theology and practical spirituality for a lifestyle of everyday, joyful mysticism that Jesus invites all to experience. Join us for a time of teaching, conversation, and meditation on what it might look like for you and me to journey into a daily spirituality of Abiding.

This 2-Day Retreat at Farmstead will be directed by Jake Ostrowski.

Jake Ostrowski is a student, a scholar, and a teacher. He is passionate about diving to the depths of biblical theology/spirituality and the historic Christian tradition and communicating their enduring truth and practical wisdom for everyday life and the pursuit of the common good. After serving for fourteen years in the full-time ministry, Jake and his family relocated to San Antonio, Texas, where he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Christian Spirituality at the Oblate School of Theology. In addition to being a student, Jake serves as the Director of Teaching and Preaching for the Mission Point Christian Church. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Bethany, for 18 years, and together they have three great kids. Jake loves to nerd out about coffee, a morning run, F1, and good meals with his favorite people.
